The Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Foundation will soon embark on an urgent relief assistance mission to Sudan to help victims of the recent flood disaster, it was announced by Ibrahim Bumelha, Dubai Attorney General and Deputy Board Chairman of the foundation.

Bumelha said that the delivery of the relief assistance to the victims of the Nile River floods, which is in line with the directives of Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum will start in early September in an exercise scheduled to last for one week.
The floods, the worst ever recorded in the Nile River, has submerged more than 150 islands and displaced over 65,000 people.
"The relief supplies include, tents, blankets, medicines and insecticides to fight the spreading cases of malaria and cholera among the flood victims," said Bumelha, adding that the items will be bought from the Sudanese local market to accelerate their distribution to the recipients.
He said that monetary assistance will also be given to the victims to help them rebuild their destroyed homes. He called on philanthropists in the country to donate generously in cash and kind to the victims of the flood.
