A foreign ministry official yesterday denied that Pakistan was facing difficulties in mustering support on the Kashmir issue for a discussion in the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) summit beginning from November 12.
The official, who did not want to be named, said that Pakistan already had the support for the Kashmir issue and added that not only the subject of Palestine and Kashmir but also other problems facing the Muslim Ummah will be discussed.
"We expect that after devoting a full day to a discussion to the subject of Palestine, the foreign ministers of the OIC will touch upon the Kashmir issue, which is going to be an important item on the agenda among other issues that are due to be debated in the remaining two days."
In this connection, senior foreign ministry officials left Islamabad to attend the preparatory meeting of the  OIC  in Doha  which is beginning on November 8 ahead of the OIC summit on November 12, the official said.
"The preparatory meeting of the OIC senior officials will discuss the main issues that will later be referred to the three-day meeting of the foreign ministers of the OIC, who move it further forward to the summit," the foreign ministry official said.
He added: "Besides the issue of Palestine, the OIC meetings will discuss the subject of Kashmir."
Provisional agenda
The provisional agenda of the series of meetings has already been worked out by the OIC secretariat but indications suggest that a few out of agenda items may also be taken up either in the foreign ministerial session or the summit itself.
