Sharjah: A young man in transit through the UAE collapsed at Sharjah International Airport on Tuesday morning.

The 19-year-old Indian man, identified as Sh.T., was travelling from Iraq to India via Sharjah. He was transferred to Al Kuwaiti Hospital in Sharjah at around 11am, an official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News yesterday.

The man was admitted to the intensive care unit where blood tests confirmed he was tuberculosis-positive.

An official source at the hospital told Gulf News they had received the case and the man had been kept in quarantine for the necessary treatment. The man will stay at the hospital until he recovers.

“We were told Indian embassy officials would come and follow up the case of the young man.” the official added.
