Ras Al Khaimah: An Arab motorist was killed and another seriously injured early Wednesday after their vehicle smashed into a lamp post, Ras Al Khaimah Police said.
Brigadier Dr Mohammad Saeed Al Hamidi, director-general of the General Directorate of Central Operations at Ras Al Khaimah Police, said the accident involved a 19-year-old Arab driver, identified as K.W.A.
Initial invetigations revealed that he lost control over the vehicle due to speeding and hit the lamp post. He died on the spot while another man, also 19, sustained serious injuries.
The body of the deceased was moved to the hospital morgue and was later handed over to his family for burial.
Brigadier Al Hamidi urged drivers to observe the speed limit and abide by traffic laws and regulations at all times especially during low visibility.
