Man jailed for breaching woman driver's privacy
A woman driver who honked her horn at a fellow motorist to give way at a U-turn in Al Rigga Road became a victim of road rage.
The intoxicated male driver followed her vehicle and crashed into her car and started cursing the woman, A. Y. I., and her son. The man, B. A. K., 44, an Iraqi, then snatched the woman's veil and assaulted her.
Later the police arrested B. A. K. and referred him to the General Prosecution.
Upon questioning the accused confessed to having alcohol but denied the other charges. He claimed that while taking the U-turn the woman and her son were continuously honking.
So he flashed the headlights to calm them down. He alleged that then the two left their car and assaulted him. He had to defend himself and pushed them away.
The General Prosecution charged the man with assault, endangering peoples' lives, breaching a female's privacy and having alcohol.
The Dubai Court of First Instance sentenced B. A. K. to one month in jail for breaching the housewife's privacy and fined him Dh7,000 on the rest of the charges.
