Man dies after plunge from third floor

A man fell to his death yesterday from the third floor of a building. According to eyewitnesses the victim, identified only as Parakash, fell from the external stairs of the building in which he shared a room with three other work colleagues at 9am. He died 30 minutes later.

Sharjah Police rushed an ambulance to the spot when the building's watchman reported the accident. "I feel very sad for Parakash who was planning to go back to his home in Kerala. He had already bought the ticket and booked the seat. His residence had been cancelled," said an eyewitness who worked with Parakash in a restaurant.

He added that Parakash had already sent his personal effects home. "He was sick, and he might have fallen because of that," he added. Another colleague told Gulf News that Parakash had had a severe mental illness for a long time. "He often lost his physical balance and concentration and fainted," he said. A source said police are still investigating.
