Former Indian Test cricketer and National Selector Madan Lal arrived in the UAE yesterday for a one-month stint as coach of the Emirates Cricket Training.
Madan Lal is no stranger to the UAE having in 1996 guided the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to the World Cup for the first time.
The Emirates Cricket Training (ECT) has been set up under the auspices of Sharjah Cricket Council to provide cricket coaching to youngsters.
The Centre's aim is to promote cricket at the grass root level.
An official ceremony was held at the Academy grounds to officially welcome Madan Lal. The Academy has all the facilities and the amenities of a top class coaching centre.
Madan Lal will be assisted by Shahzad Altaf who has considerable experience as a player as well as coach. He holds the distinction of being the most economical bowler when the ECB played in the World Cup 1996. Shakeel Latif, a leading local player, will also assist the centre.
The Emirates Cricket Training is set for much bigger things and is likely to make good progress.
