SHARJAH Over 6,000 workers will get expert tips on how to boost their health and financial well-being as part of a mammoth corporate training event that kicks off at Sharjah Expo on March 11.

The three-day annual Albatha Learning Festival, now in its fifth year, is being organised for its staff by UAE-based Albatha group which runs companies in sectors like automotive, healthcare, manufacturing, engineering, electronics, FMCG, food and real estate.

Billed as the UAE’s largest coporate training event, the festival includes around 100 sessions including workshops where particpants will learn how to stay positive in the face of adversity. Some 70 experts from various fields will be on hand to conduct the training sessions in Hindi and Urdu for the workers, most of whom are from the sub-continent.

“Maintaining a positive attitude during stressful times can go a long way to overcoming odds and this is precisely what we want to convey to these workers,” said Noman Nasarullah, director of organisational skills and strategy development consulting firm Funverks who will conduct a session on Positive Attitude.

“The idea is to transform our group into a learning organisation,” said Sabiha Kazi group learning and development manager at Albatha. “We are hoping to cover every-thing ranging from safety, creativity and innovation to management and leadership programmes,” she added.

Other activities include a women’s wellness club, a standup act by Pakistani comedian Osman Rohail and a slew of fun-filled contests in which the workers can win prizes like gold bars, air tickets and electronic items.
