Ras Al Khaimah: A labourer died falling from the top of a 10-storey building under construction yesterday.

He was declared dead at Saqr Hospital.

Doctors found the 35-year-old Indian, identified as B.S., still alive at the accident site and transferred him to the hospital. Medical sources said B.S. sustained multiple fractures and injuries but head injuries led to the death.

An investigation is on to find out the reasons behind the accident but the police concluded that the death was due to the fall from a height with no criminal intentions involved.

The Public Prosecution authorised the delivery of the body to the family for burial.

Caution

The police sources feared that with the onset of summer, such accidents and incidents of sun stroke will rise among labourers working in the open.

They highlighted the importance of safety measures that the labourers should take at work sites, and called on the companies to strictly enforce the measures for the safety of the labourers.

The municipality, too, has been warning the labourers to take proper security measures at construction sites.
