A bomb hoax forced a Kenyan Airways flight to make an emergency landing at the Salalah Airport just after Tuesday midnight.

A Boeing 767 of Kenya Airways, which is celebrating their silver jubilee year, was carrying 85 people on board, including 12-member crew.

According to information available here, the pilot of the Nairobi-Dubai flight received 'threat' from Nairobi that there was a bomb on board the plane.

The pilot, who has not been named, then contacted the Seeb International Airport seeking clearance for an emergency landing at the nearest airport in Oman. He was directed to the Salalah Civil Airport.

No bomb was found after a thorough check and passengers were allowed to board the aircraft again before it left for its destination, Dubai.

"I have no more information regarding how and from where the pilot got the bomb alert," the Kenyan Airways Sales Manager in Oman Millicent Ali, told Gulf News yesterday.
