Grand Master Baadur Jobava of Georgia beat GM Alexander Motylev of Russia to grab solo lead with five points after six rounds in the Dubai Open Chess tournament being played at the Dubai Chess Club.

Grand Master Baadur Jobava of Georgia beat GM Alexander Motylev of Russia to grab solo lead with five points after six rounds in the Dubai Open Chess tournament being played at the Dubai Chess Club.

GM Aleksej Aleksandrov of Belarus beat erstwhile solo leader IM Artem Timofeev of Russia. They share second slot with Gabriel Sargissian and Ashot Anastasian of Armenia and Evgeny Alekseev of Russia at 4.5 points each.

Jobava defeated Alexander Motylev of Russia in a keenly contested match from a Sicilian defense.

It was a counter attacking game with players opting to go with the king on opposite sides. It seemed Motylev had worked up an initiative on the diagonal but Jobava's pair of knights sprung into action and won an exchange. The rest was a matter of routine technique.

Alexandrov Alexei defeated Timoseev Artem of Russia in a Gruenfeld defense. It was a keen battle and Alexandrov chased Timoseev queen all over the board.

Alexandrov won an exchange and his passed pawn in queen side was the decisive GM Baadur Jobava of Georgia beat GM Alexander Motylev of Russia to grab solo lead with 5 points after 6 rounds of the Dubai Open.
