India's iSec has tied up with Advanced Business Solutions to offer IT security solutions in the Middle East.

"Imported systems comply with European and American situations.

"They should comply with local laws," said Sanjay Pandey, managing director of iSec.

"It is important for all regions to have their own measures. Every country has to have its own standards even if their copyright laws are identical," says Sanjay Pandey.

Hacking in the GCC is mostly business-oriented, while in India, where Pandey has worked with clients such as Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. and UTI Bank, such attempts are mostly politically-motivated.

In the Middle East, iSec Services is targeting the GCC markets.

It has already checked and assessed the systems of Saudi Electric Co (Central Region) and trained people from the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology.

iSec Services also plans a security training institute with ABS and has already soft launched the encryption product, iSec-Office-Crypto, for all Microsoft Office documents.

The product uses the advanced 256 bit encryption standards (AES) adopted by the US.

M.N. Chaturvedi, president of Advanced Business Solutions, said: "With the growth of PC popularity, products designed for home and research are being used for critical commercial activities. IT security is presently passing through a delicate phase, where security has been just slapped on to products that were designed without security in mind.

"Until new products are designed with security as a basic requirement, critical IT operations will need intense ongoing review."
