Intoxicated man causes mid-air panic on Dubai flight

Dubai: A drunken Australian caused a mid-air panic on a Jet Airways flight between Dubai and Chennai on Monday when he locked himself in the toilet and refused to come out.

The passenger had been upgraded from economy to business class, according to sources who spoke to the Times of India, and had been consuming alcohol.

The man locked himself inside the toilet for some time until concerned passengers alerted the crew.

The man initially refused to come out of the toilet when airline staff asked him to return to his seat. When he eventually emerged he was abusive to airline staff and police were waiting for the man on the tarmac at Chennai airport when the plane landed at 10.30pm. The Australian, whose name has not been released, was later released without charge after apologizing to Jet Airways staff.
