Interior ministry to fund mass wedding

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Interior is sponsoring the mass wedding of 100 of its employees on December 20 here.

Some 1,200 relatives of the grooms and brides are expected to attend and celebrate the wedding to be held in cooperation with the Marriage Fund.

The initiative stems from the ministry's keenness to enhance its participation in community activities and to encourage Emiratis to get married and start a family.

It also aims to curb overspending and excessive dowries, and support the UAE's original culture and customs, which are derived from Islam.
