Inquiry ordred into death of Emirati mother and son in Sri Lanka

Abu Dhabi: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following up and coordinating with the UAE Embassy in Colombo over the death of an Emirati family in Sri Lanka.

According to the ministry, an Emirati woman and her son died of severe poisoning, while the father, Mohammad Ali Obaid Al Mazroui is admitted to an incentive care unit in a hospital in Sri Lanka.

Ambassador Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, Director of the Operations Department at the ministry said a specialised medical team has already been sent to follow up the investigation with Sri Lankan authorities into the circumstances which resulted in the death of the woman and her son.

Al Shamsi said that the condition of the father Mohammad Ali Obaid Al Mazroui is stable as he still receives medical treatment at the incentive care unit in the hospital.

He stressed the ministry’s keenness on following up on the conditions of Emirati citizens abroad and providing them with assistance under all circumstances.
