Tamil Nadu native, a solo winner, bought ticket in his wife’s name
Abu Dhabi: An Indian expat residing in Dubai has won Dh150,000 in Big Ticket’s Series 276 weekly e-draw held in Abu Dhabi.
Hailing from Tamil Nadu, Iyshwarya Subramanian’s husband, a 39-year-old Dubai resident, had purchased the ticket under her name. He has been living in Dubai with his family for the past nine years and has been regularly participating in Big Ticket draws for the last year and a half.
He couldn’t believe his luck when show host Richard called to break the news.
“Oh, really? I hope you’re not joking,” Subramanian said, as Richard repeated the winning ticket number 020172.
Once reassured, Subramanian was at a loss for words.
“I don’t know what to say. I’m in office now. It’s a shock. I still can’t believe this call.”
Subramanian said he’s been buying Big Ticket entries for over a year – sometimes with a friend, sometimes on his own. This winning ticket, however, was purchased solo. He had bought two tickets and received four additional entries through a bundle offer, and one of the free tickets turned out to be the winner.
“Oh, my goodness, it’s amazing.”
Still stunned by the unexpected windfall, Subramanian said the feeling of winning Big Ticket is incredible.
“I haven’t made any plans for the prize money yet, since I didn’t expect to win so soon. But one thing’s for sure, I’ll definitely keep trying again with Big Ticket.”
He encouraged others to take a chance.
“You never know when luck will hit. It comes when you least expect it, so take a chance.”
