In today's appearance-conscious era, we come across many people wearing braces. Even adults are obsessed with a perfect set of 32 pearls and are opting for braces. What is common between most people wearing braces? They smile with lips tightly closed.

Well, now you can smile, grin and laugh wholeheartedly even with your braces on. Doctor Günther Neumann has introduced the concept of 'invisible braces' in his newly-opened Clinic of Orthodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry. The clinic is located in the Emirates Towers office building. He is offering free consultation for the coming month.

Dr Günther Neumann is a dentist and orthodontic specialist from Berlin, Germany. He has specialised in lingual orthodontics (invisible braces) from the Paris University. He has clinics in Berlin, Paris and now in Dubai.

One may wonder how braces at the back of the teeth correct discrepancies? Dr Neumann answered: "Just like a cow can walk forwards and backwards, the tooth can be pushed or pulled. The invisible braces work just like the normal ones, the only difference is that they pull the teeth instead of pushing it."

The Invisible Braces treatment is an outcome of extensive research done in the U.S. and is certified by the 'European Society for Lingual Orthodontics'. The treatment has the same time span and effectiveness as normal braces and can cure tooth discrepancies such as crowding, malposition and incorrect jaw size.

The greatest advantage of invisible braces is its aesthetic utility. Besides this, Dr Neumann has cited better natural cleaning as an important advantage over normal braces. The treatment also enhances oral hygiene, as brushing becomes easier. The patients have fewer periodontal problems after the treatment and the braces cause no harm to the teeth. They may have difficulty pronouncing the letter 's' for a maximum of two weeks. Age is no bar for the treatment. "I have patients from all walks of life – teenagers, fashion conscious models as well as businessmen," said Dr Neumann. "But we do wait for the patient to have all permanent teeth."
