Ikea reacts following several complaints of breakage in junior bed models

Dubai: Following several reports of breakage in two of its junior bed models, Ikea has recalled those products and offered free repair to customers facing problems with these particular products.
The recall of the products KRITTER and SNIGLAR junior bed follows seven reports of breakage of the metal rod connecting the guardrail to the bed frame. A broken rod could expose sharp metal edges, presenting a laceration hazard.
However, according to Ikea, no cases of any injuries caused by breakage of the metal rod have been reported and none of the seven cases of breakage are from the UAE.
An Ikea spokesperson told Gulf News the company is committed to serving and selling high-quality products that are safe, healthy and produced with care for the environment and the people who produce it.
“The safety of our customers is of utmost importance to us and therefore we have requested customers who have purchased the affected KRITTER and SNIGLAR junior bed to stop using them immediately. Customers are requested to contact Ikea customer services on 800 4532 to receive repair free of charge,” said the Ikea spokesperson in an e-mail statement.
Meanwhile, the Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai has expressed its appreciation for Ikea for recalling its KRITTER and SNIGLAR brands of junior beds to avoid any likely injury to users.
“We congratulate Ikea for stepping forward to protect their consumers and ensure their safety. Leading retailers like IKEA setting such examples in safeguarding consumer rights, especially those regarding repairs and warranties, will inspire others and highlight the importance of mutual trust and harmonious relations in maintaining a healthy business environment,” commented Abdul Aziz Bin Hathboor, director of consumer protection at DED.
