High-quality show in first grand championship
The first grand karate championship, held under the auspices of Sheikh Tariq bin Faisal Al Qasimi, Chairman, Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority, took place at the sports complex in the American University of Sharjah on Saturday.
About 180 players, representing 13 clubs across the country, joined the event, held under the theme 'Yes to Sports.' Referee Natalie Al Haddad, in her opening address, encouraged the participants to enjoy the spirit of karate.
Competitions were held in various age categories from the second degree coloured belts to the first degree black belts, which produced a very high performance.
Najmeddin Al Haddad, Nawal Abyari and Mahboobe Farsit displayed a fabulous demonstration to show the art of karate, while child Ameer Fardoos performed a very beautiful kata.
Sheikh Tariq presented the medals to the winners. The event was organised by Shotokan Japanese Sports Centre.
