Free medical camp to be held in Ajman tomorrow

The Indian Association Ajman, in collaboration with Specialist Medical Center and Al Ittihad Polyclinic and Diagnostic Center, is setting up a medical camp tomorrow from 8.00am to 12.30pm. The camp will be held at Indian Association Ajman and will offer free consultation, diagnosis and prescription.

A team of seven doctors, comprising a doctor of internal medicine, orthopaedic surgeon, ENT specialist, gynecologist, orthodontic surgeon, dental surgeon and radiologist will attend to patients.

"Our main focus is the diagnosis of silent killers such as diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and anaemia," said Dr Sunil Nair, doctor of internal medicine, Specialist Medical Center, who is involved in the camp.

"We shall also attend to patients with skin disorders, stones, joint pains, sports injuries, ear, nose and throat problems, tooth and gum disease. Our doctors will offer advice on hazards of smoking, proper oral hygiene, nutrition and other health issues," he added.

Indian Association Ajman (IAA), the prime sponsor of this charity event, is a relatively new organisation. It is only 11 months old and is actively engaged in social work.

"The main objective of IAA is to serve the society," says Ahamed Khan, general secretary, IAA. "This camp has been set up for people who cannot afford to go for regular check-ups.

"This is the first time IAA is organising a medical camp, which is different from others as it offers more than the regular BP, cholesterol and sugar check-ups. For instance, we are offering free scanning which is quite expensive otherwise.

"The camp is well equipped for scanning and lab investigation. We can easily cater to 500 patients, but I would suggest pre-registration to avoid inconvenience," adds Khan.

Pre-registration can be done on assigned counters at the IAA office, Al Ittihad Polyclinic and Diagnostic Center and Specialist Medical Center.
