Daman customers can use Emirates IDs in place of health insurance cards to access healthcare services
Abu Dhabi: Residents holding insurance coverage from The National Health Insurance Company (Daman) can now use their Emirates IDs to access health services across the insurance provider’s network.
In a statement on Sunday, Daman said the facility is available for Emiratis holding Daman’s Thiqa card, as well as all expatriates holding basic and enhanced insurance plans from the provider.
The service is one of a number of initiatives that Daman is developing in order to provide smart online solutions for customers. A major benefit to customers is that they have to only carry one card, their Emirates ID, with them. At the same time, customers can also use their Daman insurance cards until these are eventually phased out.
“Most UAE residents already carry their Emirates IDs with them at all times, so we expect that the convenience in using the same card to access healthcare services will be welcomed by all members,” said Hamad Al Mehyas, chief process officer at Daman.
Members eligible for healthcare services outside the UAE must however take their cards with them when travelling to ensure they receive coverage abroad, but the company does have plans to also allow the use of Emirates IDs internationally in the future.
