Sharjah: A study published in The Journal of Pediatrics has suggested that breastfeeding could potentially reduce the number of asthmatic babies by up to 62 per cent, providing a new push for the Sharjah Baby Friendly Emirate Campaign that promotes breastfeeding.

The researchers said that each month of exclusive breastfeeding is associated with significant reductions in current asthma in children from two to six years, and that breastfeeding, particularly exclusive breastfeeding, protects against current asthma up to six years.
