Gulf News readers talk about what irritates them on the road and how they cope.
Mohammad Atif, a Pakistani expatriate who lives in Sharjah, takes an average of three hours and a half to commute to work in Dubai. He said: "After being on the road for more than two hours, I am too exhausted to go out or do anything.
"But, on the way to and from work, I pass time by talking to my family back home."
Sa'ad Jasem, a 45-year-old Canadian expatriate who spends more than two hours stuck in traffic daily, said: "To pass time, I listen to language audio books. I now know more than 20 phrases of French just by listening to it when I'm stuck in traffic."
Terry Vaughan, a 56-year-old British expatriate takes anything from 10 minutes to an hour to commute between his home and workplace, which are both located in Sharjah.
Vaughan uses this time to relax, listen to news, music or the radio. He said: "It used to bother me, but I'm learning to relax."
