Dubai: The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has begun using smart technology, especially 3D printing, in diagnosing and preventing diseases and treating its patients, said Humaid Al Qutami, chairman of the board and director-general of DHA, while inspecting and evaluating the facility at Al Bidaa Health Centre on Sunday.

Al Bidaa Health Centre, a DHA centre, received international accreditation by the Joint Commission International (JCI) and the Arabic Board in Family Medicine, proving that it is providing services and facilities at a par with international standards.

During his visit, Al Qutami was accompanied by Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of Primary Health Care Centres (PHC) at DHA; Amnah Al Suwaidi, director of Human Resources at DHA; Dr Fawzia Al Abdouli, director of the Bidaa Centre; and Dr Hamda Mesmar, director of dental care services at DHA. Al Qutami said that the authority would spare no effort to achieve Dubai’s 3D printing strategy, especially in dental care, and added that the DHA will support innovators working in it to help bring their creative ideas to reality, especially those related to smart services.

Al Qutami listened to the explanation of Dr Mesmar regarding the services and efforts of her department in using 3D printing in dental care. Al Qutami said the authority has all the capabilities to join the world drive of using 3D printing in dental care.

Dr Abdouli presented Al Qutami with the latest services offered by Al Bidaa Centre, saying that the centre receives more than 4,000 customers monthly at its different departments, including dental care, family medicine and pregnancy care.

Dr Abdouli said the centre plays an effective role in early diagnoses of hereditary diseases among infants.

Al Qutami viewed the centre’s different departments and laboratories and oversaw the workflow and services provided to educate the public.

Al Qutami concluded his visit by thanking the centre’s staff and doctors for their efforts in preventing diseases and promoting awareness among the public to achieve a happier and healthier society.
