Dubai: The 4th International Conference on Gastroenterology was held over the weekend at Hotel InterContinental in Abu Dhabi.
Best practices of more than 400 doctors in UAE and the GCC were shared by specialists and consultants in the fields of GI endoscopy, gastro oncology, and GI surgery.
The sessions were deliberated by doctors such as Dr Sameer Al Awadi, Head of Gastroenterology, Rashid Hospital; and Dr Yogesh Shastri, Consultant and Head, Department of Gastroenterology, NMC Specialty Hospital Abu Dhabi.
A lecture on Endoscopic Ultrasound by Dr Shastri, who claims to have pioneered this procedure in Abu Dhabi, explained how the procedure has revolutionised the clinical practice in the field of gastroenterology, oncology and GI surgery.
A feature of the conference was the live transmission of Endoscopic Ultrasound from the Centre for Interventional Endoscopy at Florida Hospital in Orlando by its medical director Dr Shyam Varadarajulu, who shared live cases by a transmission link.
