Dubai Municipality prohibits sale of Chinese medicine with harmful ingredients
Dubai: Dubai Municipality has banned the sale of a slimming product named Magic Slim.
The civic body’s Public Health and Safety Department on Sunday announced that the Chinese natural medicine capsule for weight reduction contained banned ingredients phenolphthalein and sibutramine.
Redha Hassan Salman, the director of the department, said inspectors have pulled the slimming product off the shelves.
Dubai Municipality also post a list of 11 slimming supplements "that are not licensed by Authorities and that contain globally banned ingredients that affect the health and safety of the customers" on Instagram.
Earlier this year, the municipality had issued a warning against 15 similar products containing the same ingredients that have serious side effects.
