Abu Dhabi: A revolutionary diagnostic system that detects cancer, cardiovascular and neurological diseases in their early stages will be introduced in the UAE for the first time.

Mubadala Healthcare (MH) announced the introduction of molecular imaging centre (MIC) at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, scheduled for completion by 2009.

The centre will mainly provide early diagnosis for patients with cancer, cardiovascular and neurological diseases.

The images will help physicians select more effective therapies, since the scan allows them to view metabolic activities; pinpoint where abnormal lesions are located and target the disease.

Johns Hopkins Medicine International (JHI), an affiliate of US medical institution Johns Hopkins Medicine (JHM), will be the clinical operator of the facility alongside its current operation of Tawam Hospital.
