UAE’s leading newspaper to make key announcement that will enhance its position as the foremost innovator in print news
Dubai: As part of its continued dedication to delivering the ultimate reading experience, Gulf News, the leading UAE-based English newspaper, is once again set to embrace change and lead the way in the future of print news in the region.
Gulf News will be announcing exciting changes that will come into effect on June 1, which will offer a new experience to readers in the country. The newspaper’s mass media ad campaign revealed this week that "Gulf News is changing", and readers can expect something new that’s in keeping with today’s modern, compact world.
Innovation has been the hallmark of Gulf News and it has a host of "firsts" to its credit - the first with a tabloid classifieds section, the first with a comprehensive business and sports section, the first with heat-set colour printing with glazed paper, the first with computerised page make-up, the first to use recycled newsprint, amongst others - and the upcoming announcement will further enhance its position as a pioneer in the industry.
With a circulation of 111,825, Gulf News is the most read newspaper in the UAE. It has achieved this position through its sustained commitment to providing world-class journalistic value, along with continued investment into state-of-the-art production facilities and the latest in printing technology, delivering quality and differentiation that are in keeping with the best in international printing standards.
The paper was first launched on September 30, 1978. Under new ownership, Gulf News was later re-launched on December 10, 1985. The Gulf News re-launch was so remarkable that it justifiably earned the distinction of being referred to as "a unique record in print media within the GCC”.
From then, it has met success on every front and firmly established itself as the leading English language newspaper of the region - a position it has occupied for many years [Arab Media Outlook Report 2012, Ipsos, Deloitte analysis].
More details about the new changes on May 31.
