Joins hands with Yango, SHIFT Car Rental and Autotrust to promote safer roads this summer
Scorching temperatures and sweltering heat are already here in the UAE, although summer will only officially roll in by the end of this week. Regardless of the onset of astronomical summer, mercury has been hovering around mid-to-high 40 degrees Celsius of late. That means it’s time to prepare yourself and your vehicle for the arduous journey ahead.
In order to make the gruelling season a smooth ride, Gulf News has launched a country-wide Summer Road Safety Campaign in collaboration with Yango, Shift Car Rental and Autotrust. Running until the end of July, the 360-degree campaign focuses on raising awareness about everything that could threaten your safety on the road.
From maintaining your vehicles and tackling driver fatigue, to following traffic safety guidelines and best practices for summer, it offers detailed information through a series of interesting articles and engaging videos to help prevent road incidents.
For campaign partner Yango, road safety is a moral and operational priority that directly impacts lives, says Islam Abdulkarim, Regional Head of Yango Middle East. “As a key ride-hailing player operating across the UAE and the wider region, we are responsible not only for the safety of our customers and partners’ drivers but also for contributing to safer communities overall.
The UAE’s summer months bring unique challenges, from extreme heat to increased vehicle stress, and we believe it's essential to take proactive steps in educating the public, promoting responsible driving behaviour, and supporting infrastructure resilience.
Collaborating with Gulf News is an opportunity to combine Yango’s commitment to safety with the reach and credibility of one of the UAE’s most trusted media platforms, he adds.
“Gulf News has a long-standing reputation for impactful journalism and community engagement, making it the ideal partner to amplify the message of this campaign,” explains Abdulkarim. “Through this collaboration, we aim to ensure that crucial safety information reaches a wide and diverse audience, helping to drive real behavioural change during one of the most high-risk periods on the road. Together, we aim to make a meaningful difference this summer.”
As part of AW Rostamani Group, Sanaa Ouahmane, CEO of AWR Mobility & AWR Trading, believes her companies’ responsibility extends beyond services to include education and empowerment.
"Safety is at the heart of everything we do, whether it’s providing well-maintained rental vehicles through SHIFT Car Rental or ensuring optimal vehicle performance at Autotrust Service Centre,” says Ouahmane.
We see it as our duty to guide our customers on what to expect, especially during challenging summer months. At the same time, regular servicing and maintenance—such as tyres, brakes, and fluid checks—are essential in reducing risks and ensuring every journey is a safe one.
“Through Gulf News’ Summer Road Safety campaign, we aim to enhance awareness, promote safe driving habits, and reinforce the importance of vehicle care, ultimately contributing to safer roads for everyone."
Throughout the six-week campaign, Gulf News will leverage its social media platforms for deeper engagement with motorists. The aim is to ensure road safety remains top of mind for everyone reducing traffic incidents as much as possible.
