Education Minister also lauds prominent literary personalities

Dubai: Humaid Mohammad Obaid Al Qutami, Minister of Education, on Thursday recognised prominent literary personalities and media organisations.
Juma Al Majid, prominent businessman and philanthropist, and Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police chief, were honoured.
Gulf News was the only English-language paper to be recognised.
Officials from the communication office at the Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Civil Affairs as well as the National Media Council, Abu Dhabi Radio and TV, Sama Dubai TV and Journalists Association were also honoured under the theme "Recognition Day".
The minister recognised the first generation of educators along with highly qualified educators with master's degrees and PhDs who have contributed to the education sector in the UAE since its establishment.
"Today's recognition is the least that we can do for those who played a great role in establishing and reinforcing the education process in the UAE. We are keen to recognise the first generation of teachers and press people, Emiratis and expatriates who gave the education process a great push throughout three decades", Al Qutami told Gulf News.
