Unlicensed parking lots to be closed down

Last updated:

Sharjah: Private parking lots in Sharjah that are in violation of the law will be closed down today (Thursday), Sharjah Municipality has announced.

The municipality said that it has increased the number of inspection visits to private lots during the past two weeks as a step that aims to regulate parking areas in the emirate. The municipality pointed out that the goal of the inspection visits was to ensure that the parking lots are abiding by regulations and laws. The visits also made sure that the lots meet technical and safety standards set by the municipality.

Atef Al Zarouni, director of the Department of Public Parking at the municipality, said that parking lots that are in violation of the law will be closed down in cooperation with the relevant government departments and organisations.

Al Zarouni added that leaflets were distributed to vehicles parked in unlicensed lots, notifying the car owners that the parking area will be closed down and warning them not to cooperate with the lot’s operators.
