Abu Dhabi: The UAE announced on Monday that its role in Libya is strictly confined to delivery of humanitarian assistance as per the policy laid down by the UAE under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan for assisting brotherly and friendly countries at times of crises and disasters.
The President has instructed the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Charity
Foundation to deliver emergency humanitarian assistance to the Libyan people affected by the current events in their country.
The UAE has, in coordination with Turkey, sent a ship loaded with medical and humanitarian aid to Libya. Two UAE planes carrying humanitarian aid flew last week to Libya to contribute in efforts to ease suffering of the Libyan people by meeting essential requirements from medicines, and medical equipment to food materials.
Juma Mubarak Al Junaibi, Undersecretary of the UAE Foreign Ministry, said: "The UAE is assuming its humanitarian role within the framework of brotherhood and friendship with the Libyan people."
