Abu Dhabi: The UAE has emphasised that the current military escalation in the region requires urgent and coordinated action at both the regional and international levels to avoid the risk of widening the conflict and to contain its impact on peace and security in the region and globally.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the UAE, having condemned Israel’s military strike on the Islamic Republic of Iran from day one, believes that, five days into this dangerous confrontation, a diplomatic solution is urgently needed.

He called for both parties to de-escalate, bring an end to hostilities, and avoid any further escalation that could have far-reaching and unintended consequences.

Sheikh Abdullah cautioned against reckless actions that might extend beyond the borders of the two countries, stressing the need for immediate steps to stop the conflict before it spirals out of control.

The Minister stated that President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has been leading intensive diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and preventing the spread of conflict. He added that the UAE advocates for diplomacy and dialogue as the only viable path to stability, prosperity, and justice for the region.

Sheikh Abdullah stated that, at this critical and volatile juncture, the UAE reaffirms that the region long regarded as the heart of the world and burdened by persistent conflicts cannot endure further escalation. Now, more than ever, wisdom and restraint are urgently needed.

Sheikh Abdullah added: “The UAE firmly believes that promoting dialogue, upholding international law, and respecting the sovereignty of states constitute the strongest foundations for resolving today’s crises. The UAE calls on the United Nations and the Security Council to fully assume their responsibilities in preventing further deterioration and to take immediate and decisive action to secure a ceasefire and restore international peace and security.”
