UAE and Egypt welcome Gaza ceasefire, emphasise humanitarian aid and peace efforts
Sheikh Mohamed and El Sisi reaffirm their shared commitment to Syria’s unity and stability
Abu Dhabi: The UAE and Egypt on Thursday welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, reaffirming the urgency of delivering adequate humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip. Both nations also underscored their commitment to pursuing efforts for a two-state solution as the foundation for achieving stability and a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace in the region.
The statements were made during a meeting between UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi in Abu Dhabi.
The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and explored avenues for enhancing cooperation and joint efforts between the UAE and Egypt across various fields, particularly in development, economic, and investment sectors, with a view to serving their mutual interests and fulfilling the aspirations of their peoples for growth and prosperity.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and President El Sisi also reviewed a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern. They exchanged views on key developments in the Middle East, underscoring the importance of coordinated efforts to address shared challenges and promote stability in the region.
The UAE President praised Egypt’s efforts to support the Palestinian people and its pivotal role in facilitating the recent ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
During the meeting, the two leaders welcomed the election of Joseph Aoun as President of Lebanon, expressing hope that this milestone would contribute to restoring stability and unity in Lebanon.
Sheikh Mohamed and President El Sisi reaffirmed their shared commitment to Syria’s unity, stability, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. They emphasised the importance of launching an inclusive political process that encompasses all components of the Syrian people to achieve sustainable peace.
They also underscored the need to strengthen peace and stability across the region, working collectively to serve the interests and aspirations of its people.
