Dubai: The UAE is an effective contributor that launches initiatives to help societies achieve sustainable development goals, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, during his visit to the exhibition held alongside United Nations World Data Forum 2018 opened in Dubai yesterday.

Bringing together nearly 2,000 data leaders from more than 100 countries, the forum is hosted by the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority (FCSA), with the support of the Statistics Division of the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs

Shaikh Mohammad said that the UAE hosting such a prominent event in the field of data, and providing a platform for transferring and spreading knowledge, is a form of recognition of the UAE’s prestigious position and its pivotal role in mobilising international support to achieve global development goals.

“Forging the future is not merely through impromptu decisions, but rather strategic plans that are based on knowledge and clear goals that rely on analytical data derived from accurate and realistic information,” Shaikh Mohammad tweeted.

“There are plenty of challenges facing the world, but there are more opportunities to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development for societies, particularly in light of the information revolution brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. But, we have to work as a team to put in place a joint vision that boosts our capabilities to face these challenges,” said Shaikh Mohammad.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammad also received Ameenah Mohammad, UN deputy Secretary General and discussed the agenda of the UN World Data Forum 2018, which continues until Wednesday. Amenaah Mohammad thanked Shaikh Mohammad for hosting the UN forum in Dubai. Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, was present.
