Sharjah — His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, visited on Monday the Government House in Kerala.

Upon his arrival, he was received by Palanisamy Sathasivam, the Governor of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, and several ministers, members of the government, senior officials and businessmen of Kerala.

During the meeting, officials expressed their keenness to strengthen relations between Sharjah and Kerala to achieve intellectual exchange between the two sides in the fields of culture and art, and closely review Kerala’s efforts in the development of its comprehensive cultural renaissance.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr Shaikh Sultan presented a commemorative gift, an authentic Arab dagger, to Palanisamy Sathasivam. Dr Shaikh Sultan also received a commemorative gift from the governor of Kerala.

Later, Dr Shaikh Sultan held a meeting with Pinarayi Vijayan, during which he and Indian senior officials thanked Dr Shaikh Sultan and the delegation from Sharjah for accepting the invitation to visit Kerala.

During the meeting, the chief minister highlighted key topics of mutual interest and called for their broader implementation during the coming few years in order to boost available opportunities for cooperation in the field of tourism, culture and science.

The chief minister presented a collection of copies of Dr Shaikh Sultan’s book, “Sard Al That”, which has been translated into Malayalam, as a gift to fellow ministers and members of the government.

A video presentation was given to showcase investment opportunities in Kerala, in addition to highlighting joint projects between Sharjah and Kerala in the field of culture, research and technology.

Dr Shaikh Sultan announced a host of initiatives that will benefit people from Kerala who are residing in Sharjah or working in its government institutions.

He called on the Government Relations Department in Sharjah to coordinate with the Indian Embassy in the UAE to discover opportunities to expand areas of joint cooperation between Sharjah and Kerala.
