Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence has started implementing the smart building monitoring system in the emirate to monitor fire safety round-the-clock.

In the event of a fire, or an emergency, the new system will send an alert to the civil defence operations room within seconds.

The civil defence has partnered with Injazat for Data System and Mubadala to implement the ongoing project within months across the UAE.

However, Abu Dhabi has been selected to be the first where the new smart technology will be implemented, an official told Gulf News.

The readiness and functionalities of the system will be monitored round-the-clock from the operations room.

In case of any fault, the system will send an alert to the operations room and will monitor the issue till it is fixed.

The project is in line with the implementation of the Emirates Fire Protection and Life Protection Guide that aims to reduce the cost of inspecting buildings.

This system will also reduce the response time to fires and provide accurate information to reduce instances of false alarms.

This system will be implemented in all public, private and establishments in the UAE, including warehouses and factories. It will automatically alert the civil defence operations room in case of a fire.

It will also provide details such as address and location so firefighters can reach the site promptly.

Civil defence has classified buildings, both old and new, in five categories according to their size and number of floors, with optional application in residential villas.
