Sharjah Ruler sets up Archaeology Authority

Sharjah: His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued an Emiri Decree No. 57 of 2016 establishing Sharjah Archaeological Authority.

The third Article of the decree annuls the Archaeology Section at the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah. All movable and immovable assets and human resource cadres of the department will be assigned to the authority.

Dr Shaikh Sultan also issued Emiri Decree No. 58 of 2016 appointing Dr Sabah Aboud Jasem as director-general of the Sharjah Archaeology Authority.

As per the decree, Dr Jasem, an archaeologist in the Department of Culture and Information, is transferred and promoted to the special grade of the director-general of the Government of Sharjah.
