Security sector strategy also on Dubai Executive Council agenda
Dubai: Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and First Deputy Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, reaffirmed the importance of education as a foundation for building any society during the Dubai Executive Council meeting he chaired yesterday at Emirates Towers.
The council discussed the broad outlines of the education sector strategy, with Shaikh Maktoum saying that education is an integral part of the union, which resulted in the formation of the UAE, an urban and civilised country.
The council reviewed the outlines of the strategy prepared by the General Secretariat of the Council, Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Ministry of Education and Dubai Education Zone. It also reviewed current data on private and public schools, as well as surveys and interviews with parents.
The education strategy aims to ensure that the goals of the sector are in line with long-term social and economic priorities of the emirate.
The Dubai Government’s strategy to develop the education sector is in accordance with Dubai’s Strategic Plan 2015 due to its importance in building knowledge based sustainable economy and ensuring good living standards. It is also in line with the Ministry of Education’s strategy and the memorandum of understanding signed between Dubai Government and the ministry.
Shaikh Maktoum stressed that it is important to support and empower teachers due to the important role they play in the education process.
The council also discussed the security sector strategy for 2013-2015, which aims to guarantee public safety in the emirate and enhance the capabilities of institutions and establishments in abiding by safety standards.
Shaikh Maktoum said that the Union Tree initiative, the first of which was planted recently by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, serves as a reminder of the UAE people’s roots, which spans thousands of years and unifies them.
On the occasion of the 41st National Day, Shaikh Maktoum and council members extended their heartfelt congratulations to the UAE leadership and people. They wished the UAE more progress, prosperity and security.
