Schools urged to carry out evacuation drills

Abu Dhabi: The General Directorate of Civil Defence (GDCD) Abu Dhabi has called on public and private schools to carry out evacuation drills in order to bolster the safety of students in case a fire breaks out.

The Directorate said the drills would ensure that students and staff remain calm and rational in such situations until they reach a safe location. Major Abdullah Hamad Al Tamimi, head of media and public relations department at GDCD, said that informing every person about their role through drills and training ahead of time boosts preventive and protection standards.
