Abu Dhabi: The Sawab Centre, a joint UAE-US digital communications hub to combat violent extremist ideologies online and promote positive alternatives, has announced the launch of a new campaign on its social media platforms, under the hashtag of #AfterTerrorism.

The two-day campaign is launched in Arabic, English and French on Sawab’s Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube platforms.

Coinciding with the observance of the International Day of Peace, which falls on September 21, the campaign will highlight the stories of victims and survivors of violent terrorist attacks throughout the world in France, Burma, and Norway, among other places.

#AfterTerrorism will address the tragedy and pain in the aftermath of such attacks, but also the inspirational stories of survivors and family members who later founded organisations to help victims of similar attacks or to positively impact their communities.

In commemoration of the International Day of Peace, Sawab will also feature the powerful stories of world figures such as Malala Yousafzai, Nelson Mandela, and Pope John Paul II, who survived violent extremism and later became champions of hope, forgiveness and peaceful reconciliation.
