Major General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan
Minister of Interior
Born: 1968. Shaikh Saif earned a bachelor's degree in political science from UAE University and joined the Abu Dhabi Police in 1990 as a lieutenant. He was promoted to Major General in 1998. He worked as the Deputy Director of Abu Dhabi Police in 1995 and then served as Director General of the department from 1995 to 1997, when he was appointed the undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior. Shaikh Saif approved the five year plan for strategic development (2004-08) for Abu Dhabi Police and enforced the eye-scanning project to prevent deportees from returning to the UAE.
Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan
Minister of Presidential Affairs
Born: 1970.
Shaikh Mansour studied in the UAE and earned a bachelor's degree in international affairs in 1993. He established the President's Office and has been its director since. He introduced several pioneering developmental policies that boosted the relations between the Presidency and UAE nationals and the public sector. Shaikh Mansour also introduced IT in education and emiratisation. He heads the board of directors of the Abu Dhabi Petroleum Investments that has brought in many foreign investments.
Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan
Minister of Public Works
Born: 1959.
Shaikh Hamdan got a bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from the UAE University in 1982. In 1985, he became undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Civil Aviation Department before presiding over the department in 1991. He is still the department's president and is a member of the executive board of Abu Dhabi Airlines and Royal Jet Airlines as well. He is the acting chairman of Gulf Air and member of the Supreme Consultative Committee for Abu Dhabi's development. Shaikh Hamdan is also the deputy chairman of Emirates Media Inc.
Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi
Minister of Economy and Planning
Shaikha Lubna earned a bachelor's degree in computer sciences from California State University as well as a master's degree in business administration from the American University in Sharjah. She is the chief executive of Tejari.com, a Middle East online business-to-business marketplace. She has more than 15 years' experience in the IT fields in the Middle East, where she managed the IT section at the Dubai Ports Authority and Jebel Ali Free Zone for seven years before becoming Dubai Director for the General Information Authority. She is a member of various economic and scientific organisations such as the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dubai College.
Mohammad bin Dha'en Al Hamili
Minister of Energy
Born: 1952.
A 1998 Harvard graduate in business management, Al Hamili worked in marketing and refinery in the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company until his appointment as Energy Minister. He worked in several other positions in the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company from 1998. In 1997 and 1998, he was the general manager of Adnoc. He also worked as a governor in Opec, representing the UAE from 1994 to 2002. He is still the head of the administrative council for the National Company for Gas Transportation and the National Transportation Company.
Dr Ali bin Abdullah Al Ka'abi
Minister of Labour and Social Affairs
Born: 1968. Al Ka'abi graduated from George Washington University in 1989 in IT and earned an MA from the same institution in 1993. He also has a doctorate in administrative engineering and information management. He graduated from Sandhurst Military College in 2000. He worked from 1996 as a communication officer for the military attaché to the UAE Consulate in Washington.
