President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday ordered the release of 721 prisoners on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of UAE National Day.

Shaikh Khalifa will also settle the financial debts and liabilities of the prisoners, an official said.

Shaikh Khalifa’s order is in line with his keenness to give the prisoners a chance to start a new life and alleviate the suffering of their families.

Salem Saeed Qubaish, UAE Attorney General, said that “Shaikh Khalifa’s gesture is that of a leader who always strives to ensure the happiness of people living in the UAE. This will give them an opportunity to start a new life and contribute to the nation’s development, as well as provide better living conditions for their families.”

He added that the pardon was aimed at bringing happiness to families of the released inmates. He called on the released prisoners to lead a righteous life in order to have a better future.
