Abu Dhabi: President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued a decree granting UAE citizenship to 930 people born to UAE women married to non-nationals.
The committee charged with implementing Shaikh Khalifa's orders presented a list of names approved during its last meeting chaired by Ahmad Juma Al Za'abi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs and chairman of the committee.
The move is in line with a series of resolutions issued by Shaikh Khalifa on 40th National Day.
Earlier this year, the citizenship of 1,117 people born to Emirati women married to non-UAE nationals was approved. They met the conditions set by the committee and will receive UAE citizenship after they reach the age of 18.
Final list
The committee had previously tasked the Ministry of Interior with collecting the names of people born to Emirati women married to non-UAE nationals and putting together the final list of names qualifying for UAE citizenship.
During its previous meeting, the committee ordered treating children born to Emirati women as UAE citizens in the fields of education and health services, and allowing them to participate in all sports activities till they turn 18.
