Police chief stays out of the fray
Dubai: A brother and sister have registered to contest the Federal National Council election, so have a father and daughter. Even a man who can barely read and write has jumped into the fray. But not Dubai Police Chief Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim.
Atiq and Aisha Al Khash, contesting from Dubai, want to serve the country. And that's exactly why Mohammad Bin Ahmad Bin Ya'aroof and his daughter Fatima are keen to run for election.
The man from Ras Al Khaimah who took an hour to fill his application has the same mission. But the Dubai Police Chief has opted out of the race. His logic: After having served the country for 37 years in the force, 26 of those as police chief, he has been asked to produce a good conduct certificate.
