Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Court for Family, Civil and Administrative Cases has ordered a company to pay a worker Dh15,000 in compensation for material and moral damages, in addition to court fees and expenses. The court found the company liable for a workplace injury caused by negligence and its failure to provide adequate safety measures.

According to court records, the worker was injured when the company failed to take necessary precautions and provide protective equipment to protect employees from occupational risks. Prosecutors in Bani Yas filed a criminal case, and an Abu Dhabi criminal court found the company guilty — a verdict later upheld on appeal.

The accident left the worker with serious injuries, including impaired vision in his left eye, bruising to the cheek, fractures to the eye socket and cheekbone, and acute conjunctivitis. A forensic medical report concluded that the injuries resulted in a permanent disability.

The worker sued, seeking Dh200,000 in compensation for material and moral harm, loss of earnings, and other damages, along with 12 percent annual interest from the filing date until full payment, in addition to earlier legal fees of Dh4,107.

Citing the final criminal conviction and the forensic findings, the court ruled that the company’s negligence directly caused the harm. In its final judgment, the court awarded Dh15,000 as full compensation for all damages and ordered the company to cover court fees and costs.
