Ramallah: Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Dr Mahmoud Habash, has hailed the stance of the UAE towards the issues of Arab and Islamic nations.
In a wide ranging interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM), the minister said that there is a remarkable congruence between the stances of the leaderships of the UAE and Palestine, especially towards the issues related to the Palestinian state and the three islands of the UAE occupied by Iran.
Role model
Habash said that the deep-rooted historical relations were first established by Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late president Yasser Arafat. These relations were bolstered and deepened by the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Habash, who previously held the portfolios of social affairs and agriculture in the government of the Palestinian National Authority, also praised the UAE's pivotal support to the Palestinian cause, which has helped to strengthen the Palestinian position as well as the steadfastness and firmness of the Palestinian people in their territory to defend their property and restore the usurped rights. He added that UAE policy is a radiant model that inspires us to achieve our national aspirations.
The minister said words cannot express the gratitude of the people and leadership of Palestine towards the UAE, its people and the leaders as the UAE continuously extended its generous hand to help the Palestinians and alleviate their pain and agony.
