ABU DHABI: Abu Dhabi Police implemented new standards for “recovery vehicles” in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
No new recovery vehicle will be registered with the police or licensed unless it is equipped with the new specification of safety procedure, Abu Dhabi Police said Thursday.
The new modification of the recovery vehicle includes the installation of safe rear bumpers, high-quality rubber protector, warning triangle, reflective stickers, orange warning lights and warning alarm.
Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Daheri, Director of Central Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, said, the adoption of new standards for recovery trucks is to further enhance the safe transportation of vehicles and reduce the risk of accidents.
The new standards come within the framework of Abu Dhabi Police’s keenness to support innovation and efforts to enhance services to the best advanced practices that help making roads safer.
New specifications also include structural and technical adjustments to the vehicle to provide maximum safety and reduce serious accidents caused by its sharp rear edges.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Salem Al Mazroui, Director of the Licensing Department in Al Dhafra, said, “the modification of the recovery vehicle includes the installation of safe rear bumpers, high-quality rubber protector, warning triangle, reflective stickers, orange warning light and warning alarm.
“No recovery vehicle will be passed from licensing department of the police until they equip the vehicle with all defined new rules,” Al Mazroui said.
“This is to improve the efficiency and flexibility of the safe transport of vehicles to provide traffic safety and prevent swerving in case of accidents when carrying a car,” Al Mazroui said.
