Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, held talks with Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn on Sunday morning.

During the meeting that was held at the presidential palace in Abu Dhabi and attended by Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, the two discussed best ways to enhance bilateral relations between the UAE and Ethiopia, and the situation in the Horn of Africa.

The talks also touched upon a number of issues related to expanding the horizons of cooperation between the two countries especially in investing in industry, agriculture and tourism.

Shaikh Mohammad stressed the UAE’s keenness on building bridges of cooperation with all brotherly and friendly countries.

He also highlighted that the country seeks to promote all forms of cooperation with various countries, for the benefit of the UAE people and the people of all friendly countries.

For his part, Desalegn praised the cultural, economic and social development witnessed in the UAE under its wise leadership and expressed his government’s willingness to attract UAE investments in Ethiopia, especially in the private sector. He also noted the existence of a number of UAE companies and individuals who are investing in a number of sectors.

The meeting was attended by Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, Minister of Development and International Cooperation, Mohammad Abdullah Al Gargawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, a number of other ministers and senior officials.
