Umm Al Quwain: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, yesterday chaired a meeting during which a number of national issues were discussed.
He unveiled the plaque of the new premises of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development in Umm Al Quwain.
Shaikh Mohammad inaugurated the ministry's new centre in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain.
Documentary
Following the inauguration, Shaikh Mohammad watched a documentary at the centre's theatre on the development of the UAE since its establishment in 1971 until now, as well as achievements made in the era of founding fathers.
The new centre which cost Dh62 million, occupies an area of 27,000 square metres. It features the main theatre which accommodates 700 people.
Earlier, Shaikh Mohammad was welcomed by Shaikh Saud in the presence of Lieutenant General Shaikh Saif Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Shaikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Shaikh Rashid Bin Saud Al Mualla, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and other Shaikhs and senior officials.
Shaikh Mohammad praised the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and its endeavours to open centres in all the country's emirates.
He also referred to the ministry's role in enhancing the national identity in UAE citizens and activate the cultural movement through reviving the country's rich heritage and culture.
Later, Shaikh Saud hosted a lunch banquet in honour of Shaikh Mohammad and his associates.
